4/9/2009 Wikipedia assessment -Facebook

Description about the Facebook in Wikipedia is detailed and well- orgarnized. In addition, Wikipedia visitors are available to look over information about the Facebook Inc briefly. It is a good start to most of people who want to know about it, yet Wikipedia article is not one hundred percent trust worthy. First, the source of article comes from a knowledgeable individual, not a reliable source such as a research center, an expert, or a government. Second, there is no specific filtering to judge the content of article is true or not. Misinformation in Wikipedia can be fixed by the individual who have right to fix it- usually, the first writer- only when the readers complain about the article. Last, Outdated contents are sometimes in Wikipedia article. Updating have to be occurred frequently, but nobody has a responsibility for it. After reading the discussion, the article of Facebook also includes outdated and wrong information. For example, the number of users and revenue of Facebook are outdated. Moreover, the article said people in Iran are blocked to use Facebook but in a discussion, the Iran user claims that is not true.

For social network and privacy, Criticism part and some Litigation cases can be used. Criticism describes what privacy matter is issued recently, and Litigation specifies what cases have been treated by court until now. The writer states where the source comes from-links it with its original source- so that I can follow and confirm them.
